Cocktail of the Month - Non-alcoholic Gin Tonic
So, are you currently doing a "dry January" and avoiding alcohol? Then we have the ideal drink for you: Laroi Gin Tonic - The non-alcoholic alternative to gin. Behind Laori Gin are Stella and Christian from Berlin. "We are pleasure seekers, love good drinks and socializing. We founded Laori in 2019 out of our own need with the goal of combining enjoyment and alcohol-free. As a team, we are characterized by bundled food-tech and business expertise. We develop our products ourselves and together with our customers. This ensures that we meet our high standards for enjoyment, quality, and naturalness for ourselves and our community."
The matching recipe once again comes from our editor Sabrina @proseccoandburpees. Let's get started:

Ingredients:
-
Balloon glass (also called Copa glasses, representing the Spanish and Portuguese way of enjoying Gin & Tonic: large, bulbous glasses in which, besides the actual drink, various spices, so-called botanicals, are arranged.)
-
Ice cubes
-
1 organic orange
-
1/2 lime
-
4cl Laori Gin
-
0.2L bottle of tonic - I like Thomas Henry. Nowadays, there are also alternatives without quinine for pregnant women
Preparation:
Prepare glass & ice cubes. Peel an orange peel into a long strip as best as possible with a sharp knife. Squeeze half a lime.
Add ice cubes. Measure 4cl Laori Gin and optionally add a few drops of bitters. Top up with tonic water. Et voilà - the perfect Gin Tonic.

LAORI GIN is a young startup from Berlin. After a successful crowdfunding campaign, they founded Laori out of their own need. They develop all their products themselves with the highest standards for enjoyment, quality, and naturalness.
Stella is co-founder of Laori and of course I took the chance to ask her a few questions about Laori:
Please introduce yourself briefly. Who are you? What do you do? What is the name of your company?
I'm Stella Strüfing and the founder of Laori. With our products, we show that alcohol-free can also be awesome. Our first product is Laori Juniper No 1, an alcohol-free alternative to gin, because who doesn't like a Gin & Tonic without a hangover.
Can you still remember the moment when you said to yourself: "Ok, I AM DOING it now! I'm finally putting into action this idea that has been buzzing around in my head forever!"? How was that?
Oh yes, I remember that very well. Several things came together at that moment. I had known for a while that I wanted to start a business and was still looking for the right idea. One evening I was sitting in a bar and didn't want to drink alcohol. After many not-so-tasty alcohol-free and overly sweet mocktails, I exclaimed: "I just want a Gin & Tonic without alcohol." I then kept talking with friends about the idea of an alcohol-free Gin & Tonic, but I didn't get around to doing it. At the same time, it was foreseeable that my employment contract would expire and I had the thoughts: ok, I'm 32 years old now, have neither a husband nor children, and my job is ending anyway. So I have nothing to lose and if necessary, I can just go back to work. If I don't jump now, I probably never will. At the same time, of course, there was the question of WHAT exactly am I founding? I already knew that I absolutely had to do something with food so that I would have long-term enthusiasm for it. It took a little while until I had a great idea in the food sector. Everyone I told about alcohol-free Gin & Tonic was totally enthusiastic. But I didn't take that so seriously because friends and family are always very nice. One evening I then decided that I would do it now or stop talking about the idea. That apparently created enough pressure. I signed up for a startup accelerator that very night and started with Laori.
What is your favorite cocktail with Laori? (Except Gin Tonic)
My absolute favorite drink with Laori is the Lagroni. It's basically a light Negroni without alcohol and brings the summer feeling home. The quick version for home I always make with Sanbitter. You can easily buy it in a well-stocked supermarket and store it well. Just put 1 part Laori and 2 parts Sanbitter (1 bottle) on ice and garnish with an orange.
