With the arrival of the cold seasons, the question often arises how we can best support our health
and can optimally support our well-being during the winter season. One way
that has gained popularity in recent years is cryotherapy. But what exactly
is behind this cold trend, and why you should consider it?

What is cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy, also known as cold therapy, is a medical treatment method where the body is exposed to extremely low temperatures, usually between -110°C and -160°C. This takes place in special cryosaunas or cold chambers, where you stand for a short time in a controlled environment with dry cold. The treatment usually lasts only a few minutes. During this short time, the body responds to the extreme cold by directing blood from the outer tissues to the core region to protect vital organs. After the treatment, the warmed blood returns to the outer tissues and promotes circulation, leading to various health benefits.

Why cryotherapy?

Cryotherapy offers a variety of potential health benefits, including:

  • Pain relief: The cold can reduce inflammation and alleviate pain, which can be especially beneficial for people with chronic pain or sports injuries.
  • Stress reduction: The cold application can promote the release of endorphins, leading to increased well-being and reduced stress.
  • Improved skin health: Cryotherapy can improve skin texture by stimulating collagen production and reducing skin irritations.
  • Increased energy: After a cryotherapy session, many people report increased energy and concentration.
  • Regeneration: The cryochamber supports regeneration after sports and improves blood circulation in the muscles
  • Well-being: The subjectively perceived well-being (mental and physical) improves; I always call it an "instant mood booster"

Where can I try cryotherapy?

In Germany, many cities offer cryotherapy facilities. Our favorite studio in Hamburg is Cryopoint in the city center (Kaiser-Wilhelm-Straße 9, 20355 Hamburg). Cryopoint operates additional branches in:

  • Berlin Ku’damm & Mitte
  • Bremen
  • Frankfurt
  • Hamburg Winterhude
  • Hanover
  • Karlsruhe
  • Kiel
  • Cologne
  • Munich
  • Wiesbaden
  • Refrath

Maybe your city is included too? If you are considering a cryotherapy session, you should consult with the respective studio or a doctor to ensure that this treatment method is suitable for you. Cryotherapy has gained popularity in recent years as more people discover the potential benefits for their health and well-being. If you are curious and ready to face the cold, cryotherapy could be an interesting option to start the cold seasons with a fresh boost for your body.
