Sue's & Vanessa's New York Guide

SoSUE's very own Gossip Girls Sue and Vanessa were in New York this November. The Big Apple never sleeps; new trends are constantly emerging from the city that change us and the world. If you want to know what's going on, you have to go there. The two sisters are very different, but they were able to agree on the following favourites. So if you're thinking of travelling to New York soon, we have a few tips for you.

Shopping à la Carrie Bradshaw

Sue is the creative mind behind SoSUE. In a city like New York, there is inspiration galore! The range of shopping options in New York may seem overwhelming at first, but it's exactly the right city for study purposes. So Sue asked around in her fashion community and tested them herself. The following stores are part of the NY must-see programme:

Glossier
Glossier is a beauty brand from the States. In addition to the great products, the store itself is bathed in pink, so there really is no aesthetic eye left out.

Alo Yoga
Alo Yoga should be high on your to-do list when you're in NY. The brand has stylish sportswear in great quality.

Kith
At Kith you will find cool street style pieces, but also much more. The upcoming brand has inspired Vanessa with its sporty styles.

Aime Leon Dore
Sue was recommended this store by her son. Apparently, an eye for fashion runs in the family!

Kirna Zabête
Kirna Zabête is described as a fashion mecca. We don't think we need to say any more.

Sue's insider tip
"260" store. An outlet store with changing brands. A must-visit!

Cafés for catching a breath

When on a city trip, you tend to walk around the city all day. Sue and Vanessa recommend taking a breather:

Flipper's
The best pancakes in town according to Vanessa! Look yourself, <3

Hungry Ghost
Hungry Ghost is a coffee shop in Brooklyn. In addition to a cool ambience and fancy latte art, they also serve a blessedly good coffee to go.

Ralph's Coffee
Ralph's Coffee is a hyped café of the fashion brand Ralph Lauren. One of the now five cafés in NY offers an exclusive view over Fifth Avenue. Hot tip! SoSUE's Coffee, doesn't sound bad either, does it...?

"You can't live in New York and think you're the most important person in the city; it's just not possible. There are so many important people here."

Sarah Jessica Parker, US actress

Restaurants for the small and large appetite

Sue and Vanessa don't see each other often because Sue lives in Hamburg and Vanessa lives on Mallorca. That's why a sister trip is so good: a good chat. Where better to do this than over a nice dinner? The sisters ate their way through the city's favourite restaurants - and there were plenty of them! Absolute favourites that need repeating are:

Ciprani
Ciprani is an Italian restaurant with a unique ambience. The food is equally impressive. The meringue tart is the perfect dessert for a nice evening.

La Mercerie
La Mercerie is located in Soho and is an elegantly decorated restaurant. Here you will find the best savoury croissants and crêpes in the city.

Blue Ribbon Sushi
This Japanese restaurant is located in the centre of Soho, New York. The fish for the sushi is flown in daily and the sushi tastes just as special.

abcV
The restaurant abcV offers plenty of vegan and gluten-free options. The restaurant's creative cuisine tastes particularly refreshing at the end of a trip to America.

Museums

NYC is the meeting place for rising artists. Where to go:

- American Museum of Natural History
- The Met
- Guggenheim
- Moma

If there's time left...

New York is so diverse and exciting, which is why the SoSUE sisters are not visiting the city for the first time. In addition to the culinary and cultural programme, they have collected a few more tips for experiencing the city up close.

- Dime Square
- Ice rink at Rockefeller Centre
- Walk in Central Park
- Dance workout at Foward Space
- Ride the subway
- Visit Carrie Bradshaw's apartment

"I came to New York and in just a few hours New York did something to me: the city awakens possibilities. Hope breaks out."
Philip Roth, US writer

The trip was unforgettable for Sue and Vanessa. Now it's your turn! Don't just daydream. Live the American Dream...
