The year has hardly begun, we have digested the glitter and glamour phase around New Year's, it goes on with "high speed" to the current spring trends. In the stores, the first styles trickle in and hang mostly seemingly disorderly on the bar. With the new season comes a new round of new styles to try. Temperatures are rising, so it's time to break out long coats, boots, and neutral hues to throw on. From groovy and retro-inspired elements to updated takes on classic garments, fashion has never been so exciting.
We present you the fashion trends that we liked at the fashion weeks spring/summer 2022.
1. Cut Outs
Cut outs are a big trend this season. We've seen them on the runway, the red carpet and everywhere in between. Get inspired this season by designers like Nensi Dojaka, Stella McCartney and Jacquemus with asymmetrical tight tops, slinky midi dresses and pants. The look is combined with similar skin-tight elements like a leather skirt or flared trousers. Or with casual and evening wear by adding denim to the equation.
Fringe is in the spotlight every few years, and this season it's back on everyone's mind. This fun trend is a great way to add movement to your outfit. Originally used to prevent hems from fraying, it's now a huge fashion statement. You can usually find this fabric on the edges of jeans, but we also love it on blazers, wool coats and capes. Combine different layers to this look, such as a long skirt, minimal accessories, chunky boots or flared pants.
3. all over pattern
Whoever said you can't wear opposing patterns didn't know you could do it this way. In 2021, it's all about mixing and matching different patterns that you might not have originally combined. From snakeskin and 70s patterns in shades of green and cream, to knee-high printed boots by Prada and a mustard-colored geometric turtleneck sweater. Anything goes with this trend. Bring in a solid color in between, such as a navy suit, black vest or trench coat when the temperatures drop.
4. bra as a top
As we move from one season to the next, it's especially important to add layers to your outfits. Playing with different pieces of clothing creates interesting silhouettes and can completely change your look. This season, the bra as a crop top is especially trendy. The delicate fabrics look fantastic when paired with high-waisted pants, skirts and everything in between - they slim the waist and create an effortless hourglass illusion. You can use these bralettes to lighten up opposing patterns or monochromatic looks - try pairing them with bell-bottoms or wide-leg pants and a long jacket for a modern take on a retro outfit.
Bermuda city shorts are about to dethrone traditional shorts and reaffirm their fashion status. They are the epitome of pure luxury, with timeless cuts and color palettes
6. mini skirt
A big trend of the 2000s, the miniskirt marks the end of the reign of shorts and Bermudas. Like Christina Aguilera in her video clip "Dirrty", the miniskirt is worn shorter than ever as at Miu Miu, adorned with sequins as at Loewe or enhanced with pockets as at Dior.
7. the total yellow look
One of the colors to go for, if you had to choose just one, is yellow. Available in pastel, lamé or embroidered, as on the catwalks of Chanel, Dior, Hermès or Max Mara.
The last essential trend for spring-summer 2022 is the body chain. Already present on Instagram for a few months, the jewelry has won a place on the runways of Chanel, Versace by Fendi, Blumarine or even Acne Studios for a look like in the 2000s.
The beauty of fashion: there will still be many independent satellite trends formed during the season. I'll keep my nose to the wind and report back to you.
Until next time, your Liesa!
